I’m always pleased to create custom pieces for people using gemstones from my ever-growing collection, and this was no exception!
What made this chrysocolla pendant special is that it’s for a birthday girl, from a group of her friends – and I got to meet the person who commissioned it.

Ages ago, my lovely sister wondered if I could create a silver bow for her to wear.
I stored that request in my (not so great!) memory bank, and created this bow recently as a gift for her birthday.

A lovely customer wondered if I could resize this raw ruby ring to fit. I couldn’t, but I offered to create her another similar ring.

Alana had me create this seaglass and sterling silver pendant for a friend of hers a little while ago, and she asked me if I would be able to create her a pendant using a piece of seaglass that she had found.
It’s a lovely heartshaped piece, beautifully soft from its time in the ocean!
I think it looks as good from the reverse as it does from the front. I hope Alana enjoys it!

If you’re in Brisbane on Friday 2nd May, between 4.00 and 7.00pm a Twilight Market is being held by the Creche & Kindergarten Northside Family Day Care Educators Association at ‘The Community Place’ on Teevan Street, Stafford. The market is being held to raise funds for Allergy and Anaphylaxis Australia. As my son is allergic to nuts, this is a cause close to my heart!
Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia (A&AA) is a charitable, not for profit organisation. Their aim is to improve awareness of allergy in the Australian community.
I am setting up a Silver Forge stall at the twilight market, and will be donating 10% of all sales made during the market to this very worthy cause. There will be food stalls, art and craft, a playground, face painting and much more. Come and have Carmen’s delicious Sri Lankan food or a fab sausage sizzle for dinner, let the kids race around, and be home in time for bedtime and a nice cup of tea! Make sure you stop by the stall and say hello – I’d love to see you there!
I was asked to make this custom piece to suit someone with a dark vampish nature. My customer gave me the general picture of how he wanted the piece to look, and I added some finishing touches!
He very sensibly sent me a photocopy of the hand that it will be adorning, with measurements added. Perfect!

I had a request for a Captain America themed pendant for a daughter’s 16th birthday.
She loved the new Winter Soldier breastplate – so I recreated it in silver. It went off to California, and I hope it was well received!
One of my lovely customers, who has purchased earrings from me before, asked if I could create her a ring using this drusy agate cabochon from my gemstone collection.

According to Wikipedia, Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper cyclosilicate mineral with the formula (Cu,Al)2H2Si2O5(OH)4·nH2O. Hehehe, such a convoluted scientific string! I guess that just means it’s a compound, which is apparent from the many wonderful blue/green colourways that can be seen in various pieces.

Chrysocolla is a minor ore of copper, and like malachite, has a high copper content, which is what gives it that fabulous blue/green colouring.

The name Chrysocolla derives from the Greek chrysos (gold) and kolla (glue), referring to its use as a flux in soldering gold. The term has been used since antiquity.

It is believed to have a calming influence, and also to attract love. It is supposed to help heal burns, fever, and detoxify the liver.
