Flipside Fiesta Raffle Winner!

As I mentioned in my previous post on Flipside Circus, I was happy to donate a custom made handcrafted sterling silver and drusy agate ring for the recent Flipside Fiesta fundraising raffle.

John was the lucky winner, and he unveiled the prize for his wife Robby at Christmas time. I recently visited them both in their lovely home, and Robby chose her favourite gemstone from my collection – it wasn’t drusy after all, but I didn’t mind a bit!

This gorgeous stone is Unakite – I’ll do an in-depth post about that later. For now, it’s a natural stone, and isn’t it pretty!!!

Congratulations, John and Robby, well done on supporting such a great and worthy cause; and Robby, I hope you enjoy wearing your ring!!

Kasumi Style Pearl and Sterling Silver Ring

This pearl ring was a recent commission piece – a nice big Kasumi style pearl in a simple sterling silver setting.

Jade provided the design, and was just lovely to work with!

I learned a lot about pearls while making this ring. The mussel that grows this particular kind of pearl makes pearls with a lot of texture and variations in color. I really like that idea, as I like the “grown by mother nature” feel provided by some bumps and imperfections. A bit like all of us, really!!

Coffee Coloured Drusy Agate and Sterling Silver Ring

I asked my dear friend Morgan to choose a drusy agate cabochon from my collection, and I made it into a ring for her.

She wanted it to look a bit old-fashioned, so we designed it with a half-round shank, and I gave the silver a very matt finish.

She is thrilled with it, so I am very happy!!

Bright Orange Drusy Agate and Sterling Silver Ring

Maria, whom I previously created a gorgeous ocean wave jasper ring for, wanted a drusy agate ring too.

I was happy to show her the stones I have available! She chose this divine orange one.

Thanks Maria! I confess I love this piece of drusy so much, I bought a similar stone in the same colour to make a ring just for me!

Pink and Purple Drusy Agate Sterling Silver Ring

One of my fellow students, Jane, asked me if I could make her a drusy agate ring.

I feel very honoured that she would want to buy a piece from me!

I was very happy with the way it turned out, and Jane was very pleased too. Thank you, dear Jane!

Big Bright Blue Drusy Agate and Sterling Silver Ring

I made this ring for Gracie, my son’s girlfriend, to wear to her Year 12 Formal. She is such a sweetheart, she deserves a whole handful of beautiful rings! This one will have to suffice for now.

She chose the stone, and I set it very simply (as always!) and gave it a high polish.

Big Navy Blue Drusy Agate Sterling Silver Ring

I made this drusy agate ring for Leesa. I took it down to her yesterday evening, and she was really thrilled!

Everyone who saw this stone before I set it coveted it, so definitely a good choice, Leesa!

It’s so lovely when the person for whom you’ve created a piece loves the work you’ve done. Leesa is keen to have another one, this time in gold, so stay tuned!! 🙂

Large Hammer Forged Sterling Silver Cuff Ring

I made this silver cuff ring for Sarah.

I love the simplicity of her choice of finish!

It was great fun to make, with plenty of forging (that’s the hammering kind 🙂 ).

Ok, so this piece is not for sale – but I did create it! This seashell is the physical component of my latest goldsmithing course project brief. Lots of wire bending and soldering made this an interesting and challenging piece to create.

It started life as a sketch from my mind, and went through some incarnations on paper, as a freehand art drawing:
