Ruby Zoisite Oval Cabochon

The rich oval ruby zoisite gemstone cabochon shown here is 31mm long.  

First discovered in 1954 in Tanzania, Ruby zoisite is a composite of green zoisite with black tschermakite and ruby crystals. It is also known as anyolite, which comes from the word for “green” in the native language of the Masai tribe.

Ruby Zoisite is believed to overcome laziness. It is thought to enhance fertility and to help with diseases of the reproductive system. It is said to encourage you to be an individual and to stimulate creativity.

Rhodonite is usually a soft pink, sometimes shot through with black strands of manganese oxide. Iits name comes from the Greek rhodos, meaning rosy. It is sometimes known as the stone of love.

Rhodonite is thought to soothe the nervous system. It is believed to be an emotional balancer, and to heal emotional shock. It is supposed to promote love.

Rhyolite is a volcanic rock. It is sometimes known as Rainforest Jasper. Its occurrence is quite widespread throughout the world. Pre-historic quarries of rhyolite have been discovered in the location of east Pennsylvania, USA. Rhyolite was given it’s name by the German traveller and geologist Ferdinand von Richthofen after his explorations in the Rocky Mountains in the 1860s.

Rhyolite is supposed to spark creativity in individuals who are ready to move forward and make things happen in their life. It apparently helps to break through the mental barriers. This stone is used for meditation, progression in life, focusing on the present moment and resolving issues not yet complete.

Strawberry quartz is sagenitic quartz, a transparent colourless quartz containing needlelike crystals, in this case red inclusions of iron oxide. The bright color of genuine strawberry quartz is accentuated by small seedlike inclusions of lepidocrocite and haematite. It is most often found in Russia, Kazakhstan, and Brazil.

Strawberry quartz can be soothing and calming.  It apparently enhances intentions of love, gratitude and generosity. Some people wear Strawberry quartz when trying to attract a soul-mate. Strawberry quartz is thought to assist in bringing balance to the psyche and the emotions.

This piece of thulite comes from Norway. Thulite is also sometimes called rosaline. It is a pink variety of zoizite. Thulite is believed to be useful for people who need to put on a performance, like actors and teachers. It encourages extroversion, eloquence and showmanship. It is also said to enhance problem-solving skills. Thulite is thought to be helpful in cases of exhaustion and to treat calcium deficiency and gastric upsets. Thulite is also believed to enhance fertility.

Sardonyx is a variety of onyx. It is supposed to attract friends and good fortune. It is believed to be a stone of strength and protection, and to enhance willpower, integrity and vigor. Sardonyx is thought to bring lasting happiness and stability to marriage and partnerships.

Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper is found at Morgan Hill in California. It probably was formed from sun-dried and oxidized iron-rich clay, whose cracks were filled in by other substances.

Poppy Jasper is said to wake up and energize areas of the body that seem to be sleeping. It is believed to encourage a connection with nature. It apparently inspires a positive attitude and gives the motivation and energy to take creative action. Jasper was thought to drive away evil spirits and protect against snake and spider bites.

Agate is usually associated with volcanic rock, and crazy lace agate, sometimes known as Mexican lace agate, is generally found in the Sierra Santa Lucia mountain range outside of Chihuahua, Mexico.
