For a while now, I’ve had a design for a ring in my head. In part inspired by the power station we drive past a few times a week; and in part inspired by castles and towers, minarets and mosques, factories and smokestacks – I seem to have quite an industrial/architectural theme running through my head lately.

The stones are Peruvian Blue Chalcedony Briolettes, which I turned on their ends. Divine colour, don’t you think?

I learned how to flange chenier, which was fun! The briolettes remind me of puffs of smoke.

I have some little pear shaped free-form orange carnelians in my gemstone stash, and I think there may be another ring in this style coming along in the future!  What do you think?

Larimar Cabochon

Larimar Oval Cabochon

The soft blue larimar gemstone cabochon shown here is 19mm long, and is available to be handcrafted into a custom made ring or pendant for you. Larimar is a variety of pectolite only found in the Dominican Republic  in the Carribean. It is created by volcanic activity. It is sometimes called Dolphin Stone or Atlantis Stone.

Larimar is thought to be helpful to pregnant women or new mothers, to aid with stress or depression. It is supposed to be good for expressing the emotions, and cleansing emotional blocks.

The divine blue chalcedony gemstone cabochon shown here is 27mm long, and is available to be handcrafted into a custom made ring or pendant for you. Chalcedony is a form of silica, comprised of quartz and moganite. It was in use as early as the bronze age.

Blue chalcedony is believed to be an excellent crystal for public speakers and those who speak for a living, such as lawyers, actors and singers. It is thought to generate peace, encourage stillness and calm in the home, and be good for daily journeys to work, or stressful trips involving children.

The amazing lavender oval phosphosiderite gemstone cabochon shown here is 25mm long.  It is available to be handcrafted into a custom made ring or pendant for you. 

The basic elements that make up Phosphosiderite are phosphorus and iron, hence the name. The word Sideros, meaning iron, comes from the Greek language. Phosphosiderite is found mainly in Argentina and Chile, but has also been found in Germany, USA and Portugal.

The shades of purple in Phosphosiderite are supposed to aid in reducing anger, and to assist in calming down the heightened temperament of a person, bringing about a feeling of peacefulness. It is believed to help heal problems related to the third eye chakra, which is associated with knowledge and perception.

Lepidolite is a form of mica. It is one of the major sources of the rare alkali metals rubidium and caesium. In 1861 Robert Bunsen and Gustav Kirchhoff extracted 150 kg of lepidolite and yielded a few grams of rubidium salts for analysis, and therefore discovered the new element rubidium.

Lepidolite is understood to be a stone of joy and gratitude, teaching us to truly express without inhibitions or fears of failure. It assists in bringing peace out of chaos and balance out of imbalance. Lepidolite is thought to dispel negative energies.
