Garnet and Sterling Silver Circles Ring
Circles, endlessly wonderful. I created this ring for myself, as I wanted something to match a pair of earrings I made that I wear a lot.
The design came to me as I was daydreaming before I went to sleep one night.
I really love this ring!
Aquarius
Aquarius, The Water Bearer, is the eleventh symbol of the Zodiac. Anyone born between 21 January and 19 February is born under this sign. Aquarius is the Latin for water bearer. It is a fixed sign, and is ruled by the planet Uranus. Its symbol is , representing ripples of water. Aquarius is one of the four air signs.
Garnet is the traditional stones for Aquarius. Garnet is believed to promote successful business, and to provide protection while travelling. Garnets have been been in use since the Bronze Age as both gemstones and abrasives.
Moss agate is another stone traditionally associated with Aquarius. Moss agate is known as the gemstone of gardeners and agriculture.
Key words for people born under the sign of Aquarius are: Communicative, humanitarian, progressive and fraternal. They have universal spirit coupled with occasional obstinacy. Aquarius rules the ankles, calves and circulatory system.
Aquarians share their sign with such notables as Charles Darwin, Barrie Humphries and Charles Dickens. You can shop for an Aquarius pendant in my Celestials Collection in The Silver Forge Shop.
Family Crest Garnet and Sterling Silver Ring
I created this ring for Scott to give to his wife for their wedding anniversary. He wanted to show her how much a part of his family she was by sharing his family crest with her in some way.
He provided me with some great information and some pictures of his traditional family crest. After quite a bit of design discussion, as this ring was to be feminine, we settled on using a portion of the drawing to create the feeling of the crest – I really loved this swirly winglike piece!
Using a garnet to symbolise the red that appeared throughout the family crest (and which, of course, also symbolises love), I was very very happy with the end result. Thanks so much, Scott, it was a pleasure to work with you!
Sterling Silver, Garnet and Cairngorm Tree of Life Pendant
My best friend asked me to create a tree of life pendant for her lovely sister for her birthday.
To me, the brown of the smoky quartz (also known as cairngorm) represents the earth, and the red of the almandine garnet represents the fruit of the tree.
I wanted this tree to have a different, softer feel that the tree of life ring I made. So glad to hear the lovely El likes it!
Sterling Silver and Garnet Crown Set Ring
The very last piece that I made in my training course last year was this sterling silver and garnet crown set ring. It’s a bit of a departure from my normal style, but I like it!
I specifically chose a garnet because my lovely sister who lives on the other side of the world has just turned 50, and she likes garnets.
Happiest of birthdays, dearest Christina! xxx
Cylindrical Sterling Silver Box with Garnet Set Lid
Years ago, I made a little round silver box with a garnet on the top of it to keep embroidery needles in as due to a special project I was making, I suddenly had many of them. The joys of being able to make your own silver things!!
In this box I also keep a tiny note (which used to have my needle stuck in it when I had only one needle). It was written to me in green pencil by my son many years ago when he was quite small – it just says, in his best handwriting, “i love you”.
Nemo’s Nautilus
In keeping with the nautical theme I seem to have going, a diving bell a la Jules Verne is another piece that I made. Ok, so it’s not really a diving bell. But close one eye and it could be!!
I created this pendant for the goldsmithing training course that I am presently undertaking. The brief was fairly simple – make something incorporating a hollow ball! Great fun.
